Rust Live Stats collects data on every public Rust server and updates it every five minutes.
Every five minutes the site reads Steam's public Rust server list. That gives each server's name, player count, queue length and published tags. The site also sends a direct query to each server for map seed, frame rate and entity count. Some servers do not reply to that query. Those servers show only what Steam reports, and nothing is filled in to cover the gap.
From those two sources you get current population, wipe history, wipe timing, settings and a weekly rank for every public server. Use it to see whether a server just wiped, how many players are on it now, or which group size and region fits you, before you commit to a download and a queue. The server list shows all of them; just wiped narrows it to fresh maps.
Rank is calculated from players across the past week, counted hour by hour. A server that holds a steady population every day sits above one that peaks for a single evening. Position in any list follows player numbers only. Payment does not move a server up.
Rust Live Stats is independent and maintained by Rust players. It has no affiliation with Facepunch Studios and carries no endorsement from them. Server names, descriptions and images stay with the people who run those servers.
Because every figure comes from what a server publishes, a wrong entry usually traces back to that server's own configuration. Fix it there and the change should appear within about five minutes. If it persists, email hello@rustlivestats.org.
Your questions
Player counts, queues, wipes and ranks refresh every five minutes. Direct queries for map seed, frame rate and entity count go out on the same cycle. Servers that do not answer a direct query keep showing their Steam data until they do.
No. Every list is ordered by player numbers, with rank drawn from population across the past week. A server that stays busy all week places higher than one that fills only after a wipe.
